During MIT’s 48th annual Ebony Affair Gala, whose theme was “Afrofuturism,” our very own Joaquin S. Terrones was presented with the La-Tarri Canty Award for Faculty & Staff. This award recognizes a faculty or staff member who has not only made outstanding contributions, but also demonstrated a long-term commitment to supporting and celebrating MIT’s Black community of students on campus. Joaquin has been happily at this community-building and community-including work for years, and it was deeply heartening and touching to see him being recognized for it. Congratulations, Joaquin!
